In case you haven’t noticed, mountain cedar allergy season is in full swing here in San Antonio. That would explain why your head feels like it’s going to explode. (Either that, or because the in-laws are sticking around for the holidays. But that’s a whole other issue.)
At On Time Elmer, we feel your allergy pain. There are a couple of things you can do involving your air conditioning system to cut down on the allergy issues – especially if you’re staying indoors more than usual.
The first thing you can do is make sure your air filters are being changed often. If you suffer from allergies, it’s best to check your filter every couple of weeks for any sign of filth. During the peak mountain cedar time (December – February), it wouldn’t hurt to change the filter every two weeks. Also, invest in higher-quality air filters, which catch more of the contaminants before they reach you.
Speaking of contaminants, an air purification system is a good, long-term investment for allergy sufferers. These UV systems are installed in your AC system and kill most of the bacteria, viruses and other contaminants.
So there are a few options beyond the humidifiers and medications available for allergy sufferers. Hope you can cut down on all the sniffling and sneezing!
