During the summer, your air conditioning system can use all the help it can get here in San Antonio.
One of the best ways to take some of the stress off your AC unit is by utilizing fans. On Time Elmer always recommends using ceiling fans to help cool you down in a room. They help circulate the cool air from your air conditioner and make the room feel cooler.
But here are a few things to keep in mind:
Make sure the fans are turning the correct way. Most ceiling fans allow the blades to turn either clockwise or counter-clockwise. An easy way to test which setting is best is by simply trying it out. Turn the fan on high. If you feel the air coming down on you, then leave it on that setting. If you don’t feel air, flip the switch and judge which setting is better for you.
Also, make sure and turn off ceiling fans when you leave a room. Ceiling fans do not lower the temperature of the room. They simply help circulate air and make a room more comfortable for the people in it at the time. So leaving a ceiling fan on to “cool down a room” is a notion that simply wastes energy.
